Nehemiah’s 52 Days Detox, Part 2; The Plan
Here I will present the detox daily plan, why I set it up this way and where the idea came from.
The Bible
refers to the Word of God as food. Jeremiah, Ezekiel and John metaphorically ate
scrolls and book. Jesus himself said we
need the Word of God to live not bread alone. Paul referred to the believers
need to be fed. Here is where the idea of Bible diet plan started. The Word of
God was written in different forms and styles for a reason. God in his ultimate
wisdom decided to have it this way. In the light of the food metaphor, we can
see that this diversion was for a reason. Our food can be classified into seven
groups: protein, vitamins, dietary fibers, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and
water. They are all essential and play important roles in our health balance.
The Word of God can be similarly classified into seven groups: The Gospels,
wisdom, the law, history, prophecy, the epistles and poetry. All are also
essential to our spiritual walk. When we look deeper, we can see further similarities
between God’s word and the food types for example:
The Gospels:
Are the core content, they are spiritual protein which is essential to build
your faith muscles. They are the Holy of Holies where we see Jesus; we see
God’s glory radiance. The Gospels are the extreme revelation of God’s grace and
redeeming love.
The wisdom
books: Not only do they give us depth and set our ways, but they also help us
tour God’s mind and prospective.
The Law:
Exposes our sinful nature and demonstrates God’s holiness, and it is like the
spiritual fiber that regulates our output of words and action.
The history:
Sweet like sugar to read, gives us energy and keeps us hungry for more. It
breaks down to a honeyed taste about God’s faithfulness and goodness. It helps
us see the big picture and man’s response to God’s plan. You see God walking
through ages searching for those who love Him.
Prophecies:
They are like the fats which might be harder to digest and comprehend yet they have
delightful taste full of richness and depth.
The
Epistles: Reveal and clarify God’s salvation plan and are like the minerals
which are essential to coordinate our nervous system to guide and regulate our
walk with Christ.
Poetry: Adds
life and joy to our spiritual life and heals our emotions. It is so essential
like reviving water. It teaches us how to praise and love God.
The Bible
detox diet is planned to achieve two goals: The first is healthy diet; reading all
seven “spiritual food” groups daily. This way you get exposed to all of God’s
tones and writing styles. This adds richness and fullness to your daily spiritual
meal.
The second
goal is a detox; to have an intensive reading that will force you to eliminate
or reduce your ability to get exposed to the World philosophy or the daily life
worries. This will have a detox effect as your sole brain and spirit food will
be the Bible and everything else will be excreted in the light of God’s word.
Day after
day your spirit will be well fed and positively impacted by Gods word. The idea
is not just to drink Gods word but to be immerged in it, to be washed by it,
to allow God’s word to run through you. It is being washed with a running
river not just drinking from a bottle.
I pray that
God bless this time in your life and use his Word to build you up and reveal
himself to you more and more. Praying that you be faced by God’s holiness, love
and grace. Here is the plan but before you start, please take a minute to check
my next blog where I share some hints to make the journey more possible and rewarding.
